The need to address racial and social justice in South Florida is clear. The region is ground-zero for climate gentrification. The repercussions of COVID-19 are not only impacting health outcomes for the Black community but are also rippling through the economy and the education system. We need a united effort to confront these efforts.
The “Building a Different World: Reimagining the Future” Social Justice Conference will provide an opportunity for regional social justice practitioners and stakeholders to convene in order to exchange ideas and lay the foundation for structured collaboration that leverages the resources of the group.
To create a shared social justice framework and reform agenda that will guide our collective work for the next year.
This work will be facilitated by workshops over the course of the conference, which will be balanced with a keynote event featuring social justice advocates with a national profile.
- Practitioners: Social justice leaders interested in the opportunity to share knowledge and resources.
- Students: Emerging change-agents from FMU, other colleges, and area high schools who are interested in social justice.
- Funders: Members of South Florida’s business and philanthropic community interested in the best ways to support local work.
- Elected Officials: Public servants interested in the exchange of ideas around social justice issues.
